XL BASEBALL THERAPY
"The primary issues I see with most athletes is that they have never had chiropractic care, preventing them from performing at their full potential." - Dr. Andrew Bosier
PRO-STYLE BASEBALL THERAPY
When you feel great-you play great! Many athletes have reported feeling better and playing better while receiving routine chiropractic care. Baseball is a sport that creates stress in the body because of the repetitive motions such as throwing the ball and swinging the bat.
In addition, kids begin playing organized sports at a much younger age. Its common for kids as young as 9 years old to swing and throw 200+ times per week! This creates stress in a body that's NOT fully developed. Over the years this repetitive stress interferes with normal development leading to muscle and joint imbalance. In many cases, surgeries such as Tommy John's and rotator cuff repairs are being done by the age of 18.
The XL Baseball therapy program was designed by Dr. Andrew Bosier along with Coaches Ross Smith and Ryan Lamb in Palm Beach to target this very issue. Dr. Bosier has several years of experience working with the South Florida Collegiate Baseball Summer League and taking care of its athletes. He also works with current and former professional athletes as well as youth travel ball teams.
"This program is tailored to the individual needs of the player.", Dr. Andrew explains. The three primary areas of focus are:
- Joint Assessment & Mobility
- Dynamic Stretching
- Functional Taping
By focusing on these 3 areas Dr. Andrew is able to undo years of muscle imbalance, injury, and pain caused by repetitively swinging the bat and throwing the ball. "The primary issues I see with collegiate and pro athletes is that most have never had chiropractic care.", says Dr. Andrew. "Our combination of therapy and training services give each athlete the professional resources they need to excel on the field."
Why Is Chiropractic Care So Important For Baseball Athletes?
There are many reasons. Throwing and hitting a baseball put a lot of repetitive stress on the shoulders, hips, and spine. They become unstable, loose their full range of motion, and begin to produce pain. Without proper care, these joints tend to wear down over time and can often lead to injury. Through his training as a chiropractor, Dr. Andrew will assess, adjust, and stabilize the spine and extremities.
By combining the therapy and training services, the XL Baseball program encourages proper swing and throwing mechanics through instruction and targeted physical support. Chiropractic care is the foundation for XL Baseball Therapy which is based out of Palm Beach, FL. Not only does it lessen injury risk and lead to faster recovery times, but it also enhances performance on the field and in the gym.
Dynamic Stretching vs. Static Stretching
There is a lot of debate about the effectiveness of static stretching activities when compared to dynamic stretching routines. We believe there is a role for both and we utilize both techniques in our program.
Static stretching involves holding a particular stretch for an extended period of time before releasing it and moving on to the next stretch. Routine static stretching is an important part of maintaining the long-term elastic memory of muscles, ligaments, and tendons.
Dynamic stretching involves stretching through movement. It is vital in getting athletes loose and warm before high intensity activities. Our dynamic stretching routines make certain our athlete is ready to perform through the rigors of baseball.
